Thank you for choosing to adopt with Chula Vista Animal Services. Below are resources you may find helpful navigating life post adoption. Please feel free to email if you have questions beyond what is provided here.
1. Vets offering free exam (within 10 days of adoption)
2. The 3/3/3 Rule- This is crucial to understand the adjustment periods of the average adopted pet. Every pet is individual, but we find this video helpful in understanding what your new furry friend may be going through, and how you can help.
*Rabies vaccinations are included in adoption. Pets under 12 weeks of age can be brought in Thursday through Saturday 10am-12pm, 1pm-4pm (walk-in) to receive their vaccination at no cost to you.
Dogs:
Dogs are required to be licensed in the state of California. This ensures we remain a rabies controlled state. Chula Vista, Lemon Grove, and San Diego utilize DocuPet. This is an online system that allows the pet parent to create a full profile, complete with license, and keep it at your finger tips. They also offer personalized tags, collars and more. Chula Vista residents receive a free 1 year license at adoption. Residents of other areas are responsible for ensuring your pet is licensed with your respective agency (San Diego Humane, National City, Coronado, etc.)
