Our Be a Shelter Hero campaign is about one simple truth: everyone can make an impact.
You don’t have to adopt or foster to change a shelter pet’s life (though that’s amazing, too!). Whether you have five minutes, five dollars, or just five fingers to hit “share,” there’s a way for you to help.
We launched this campaign to show our community that helping shelter animals isn’t just possible—it’s easy, meaningful, and life-changing.
Not just for the pets. For you, too.
🐶 Adopt
Whether you’re starting a new adventure or just need a furry friend to binge-watch with, adoption brings endless love (and plenty of laughs) into your life. Your new best buddy is waiting to be your forever sidekick!
🏠 Foster
Fostering is like hitting the “pause” button on a shelter pet’s story—giving them a cozy place to relax, heal, and get ready for their forever home. We supply everything—you just bring the love (and maybe a few belly rubs).
🙋♀️ Volunteer
From dog walking and cat cuddling to events and behind-the-scenes help, volunteering is a hands-on way to give comfort and joy to animals in need.
We are currently pausing volunteer opportunities except dog walking. If you are interested in becoming a dog walker please email us at animalcare@chulavistaca.gov
