The Advisory Division provides legal guidance and support to City officials and departments to ensure compliance with the law and help inform City decision-making. This division assists a wide range of departments and divisions, including the City Clerk, City manager, code enforcement, development services, fire, housing and homeless services, library, police, and public works. The Advisory Division offers legal support on matters as economic development, real estate, and contract law. The office advises the City council, city manager, successor agency, and various developments throughout all phases of contract development, implementation, and enforcement-including negotiation, drafting, administration, and dispute resolution. In addition, the Advisory Division helps enforce City Code provisions related to building standards, zoning regulations, neighborhood preservation, land use, and other conditions affecting public health, safety and welfare.
