About Measure A

Measure A is a half-cent sales tax approved by Chula Vista voters in June 2018 to support public safety staffing and services. Measure A funding helps the City hire additional police officers and firefighters, improve response times for 9-1-1 calls and other emergencies, increase neighborhood police patrols, enhance Drone as First Responder operations, address homelessness, and strengthen firefighter, paramedic, and emergency medical services.

Measure A is incorporated into the Chula Vista Municipal Code as Chapter 3.34, which contains the full text of the measure and establishes requirements for the use, oversight, accountability, and public reporting of Measure A revenues.

Role and Function of Oversight Committee
Pursuant to the City of Chula Vista Charter Section 600 and Municipal Code Chapter 2.63, the Measure A Citizens' Oversight Committee reviews and reports on proposed Measure A expenditure plans, financial reports, and audits.

The Committee is composed of 11 members appointed to staggered four-year terms. All terms expire on June 30 of the applicable year.
