Role and Function
Pursuant to the City of Chula Vista Charter § 600 and Municipal Code Chapter 2.39, the Veterans Advisory Commission provides advice to the City Council on matters directly relating to veterans. Sample duties include: promoting and assisting the City on Veteran's Day or Memorial Day observations and other events; encouraging and promoting patriotism and interest in flag etiquette and display; studying future needs of veterans, such as veterans' homes and halls; providing a forum to discuss issues relating to military veterans; and formulating and recommending a City position and endorsement regarding proposed legislation affecting veterans and military personnel.
The Commission is composed of seven members appointed to staggered four-year terms. As listed below, all terms expire on June 30th of the year. Click here to APPLY for the Commission
