The City of Chula Vista Welcomes your Business to our City.

A business license is required in the City of Chula Vista for any person who transacts, engages in or carries on any business within the corporate limits of the city (CVMC 5.02.020). This includes all businesses in Chula Vista, Residents working from home, out-of-city businesses and all professionals.

Doing business in the city is defined as being located in or entering into the city to conduct business. This includes businesses based in other cities that enter Chula Vista as part of their work such as contractors and delivery companies. It also includes businesses that are located in Chula Vista, but their customers may not be located here. Having a presence, even temporarily, in Chula Vista requires a business license.

To obtain a new business license, you may submit a Business License Application online, by mail, or in person at the Finance Department's front counter. For Home-based businesses, a Home Occupation Permit must also be submitted with the Business License Application.

The more complete and accurate your business license application is, the easier it will be for your potential customers to find you through the online "Business Finder", promoted by the City.

Use the Quick Links below to find helpful information on requirements, renew an existing license, pay a balance, or to apply for a NEW business license completely online.
