Your visit to the Parks in the City of Chula Vista should be an enjoyable one. For your safety, our parks are monitored by Park Rangers.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

You must be at least 21 years old to reserve a park or obtain a permit for City of Chula Vista parks. Be sure to bring your permit with you on the day of your event. Park Ranger staff may request this document at any time during your event.

PARK RULES AND REGULATIONS

Park Rules
1. Park Hours: Parks are open 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. unless otherwise stated. CVMC 2.66.270
2. General Use: Unreserved park gazebos and picnic areas can be enjoyed on a first come, first served basis for groups under 25 people with no vendor services. CVMC 2.66.310
3. Reservations: Park reservations are required for gatherings of 25 or more and for any size group using a vendor service (i.e. food vendor, air jump, soft play, petting zoo, and other similar products). 2.66.310
4. Sports Areas: Park reservations do not include adjacent sports fields or courts. CVMC 2.66.240

Vendors
5. A vendor permit is required per service and will be permitted in select park areas only. All vendor companies, aside from food vendors, must be on the Approved Vendor List. CVMC2.66.230
6. Although food vendors are not required to be selected from the Approved Vendor List, it is the renter’s responsibility to ensure the food service vendor has a Chula Vista Business License, County of San Diego Health Permit and abides by all park rules. SB946
7. Air Jump generators cannot have any other device plugged into them. Additional generators are allowed, as long as they are not placed directly on the grass (on plywood, etc) and they are not refueled on the grass. CVMC 2.66.185

Set Up & Equipment
8. You may bring your own tables, chairs, and up to three canopies. Each canopy must be 10’x10’ or smaller.
9. Charcoal can only be used in park designated BBQ’s grills. All other fires must be contained in propane-style BBQ grills. No additional charcoal grills, deep fryers, fire pits or cooking oil allowed. CVMC 2.66.140
10. Piñatas may not be affixed to any structure in the park, including but not limited to gazebos, playgrounds, light posts, trees, etc. CVMC 2.66.080

Alcohol & Music
11. You must be 21 years of age or older to have/consume alcohol at a permitted park. Be prepared to show ID to Park Rangers and Police personnel. NO kegs or glass. CVMC 2.66.043, 2.66.035
12. Regardless of gathering size, a park reservation is required to have alcohol at the following parks: CVMC 2.66.045
• Eucalyptus Park
• Friendship Park
• Harborside Park
• Lauderbach Park
• Memorial Park
• Orange Park
• Rienstra Park
• SDG&E East & West Parks
13. Battery powered radios and boom boxes are allowed as long as the volume is kept down and they are not modified to include an amplified sound system. CVMC 2.66.185

Cleanliness & Safety
14. All trash and litter must be placed in trash cans. No confetti. CVMC 2.66.090
15. There is no smoking permitted at any City Park. CVMC 8.22.040
16. No animals, except for dogs and cats, are allowed in any Chula Vista Park. Dogs and cats must remain on a leash that is no longer than 6 ft. in length. CVMC 2.66.130
17. All vehicles, including motorcycles, must stay in parking areas. No driving on park grounds. CVMC 2.66.100
18. No weapons, no guns, drones, firecrackers, rockets, torpedoes, air guns, or slingshots are allowed in any park. CVMC 2.66.200, 2.66.290
19. No overnight camping CVMC 2.66.260

Each reservation will require a refundable $100 cleaning/damage deposit. Cleaning/damage deposits will be refunded as long as all park rules have been followed.

Vendor Guidelines

• Park reservations are required for gatherings of 25 or more and for any size group using a vendor service (i.e. food vendor, air jump, soft play, petting zoo, and other similar products). 2.66.310 
• All vendor services must be pre-approved and added to your reservation at least 7 days in advance. 
• A vendor permit is required per service and will be permitted in select park areas only.
• All vendor companies, aside from food vendors, must be on the Approved Vendor List. Use of an unauthorized vendor will result in forfeit your deposit. CVMC2.66.230
• Although food vendors are not required to be selected from the Approved Vendor List, it is the renter’s responsibility to ensure the food service vendor has a Chula Vista Business License, County of San Diego Health Permit and abides by all park rules. SB946
• Food vendors should be catering style and contained within a 10x10 canopy. Food trucks are not permitted. 
• Air Jump generators cannot have any other device plugged into them. Additional generators are allowed, as long as they are not placed directly on the grass (on plywood, etc) and they are not refueled on the grass. CVMC 2.66.185

 Use of an unauthorized vendor will result in forfeit your deposit.

Cancellations

• Cancellations made 7 or more days in advance from the event date will receive a full refund, less a $25 processing fee.
• Cancellations made less than 7 days in advance from the event date will only be refunded the cleaning/damage deposit.

Rain Cancellations

• Gazebos and picnic areas are available for use rain or shine. If a rental space is used in any capacity, regardless of the weather, no refund will be issued. Refunds due to rain are only considered under the following conditions:
  • Rain cancellations are determined on the day of the event by on-site City Staff.
  • If City Staff verify rainy conditions and confirm that the space was unused, the renter may request a full refund.

Adjustments

• All changes to an existing reservation must be made 7 or more days in advance.

Refunds

• All refunds for deposits and cancellations will be processed within 30 business days after the cancellation or event. 
• All cleaning/damage deposits for park reservations will be automatically refunded and do not need to be requested. Cleaning/damage deposits for park reservations will be held if any of the park rules or regulations are violated.
• Credit card and on-line processing fees are non-refundable.

1. Do I need a reservation to set up in open grass or multipurpose field? What if I don’t want to use a gazebo?
Groups of under 25 people without vendor services may use unreserved gazebos and picnic areas on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are required for:
• Groups of 25 or more
• Any group using vendor services (food, air jump, soft play, etc.)
2. Does my park reservation include the multipurpose field adjacent to me?
No. Park reservations do not include access to adjacent sports fields or courts.
3. Someone is in my reserved gazebo or picnic area space. What should I do?

4. Can I bring my own generator to the park?
Yes. Additional generators are allowed, as long they are not refueled or placed directly on grass (use plywood or similar). Please note, all air jumps and air jump generators must come from the approved vendor list.
5. I already have a park reservation, how do I add a vendor permit?
Park reservation adjustments can be made using the Cancellations, Adjustments & Refunds form.
6. What kind of equipment can I bring?
You may bring:
• Tables and chairs
• Up to three 10’x10’ canopies
7. Can I bring my own BBQ?
Yes, propane grills are allowed. Charcoal can only be used in designated park BBQ’s. No additional charcoal grills, deep fryers, fire pits or cooking oil allowed.
8. Can I bring a piñata to the park?
Yes, however piñatas may not be attached to any park structure/fixtures, including but not limited to gazebos, playgrounds, light posts, trees, etc.
9. Can I have alcohol at my gathering?
Yes, if you are 21+. No kegs or glass containers allowed. Important: Some parks require a reservation for alcohol regardless of group size. These parks include:

• Harborside
• Lauderbach
• Memorial
• Orange
• Rienstra
• SDG&E East & West
10. Can I play music at the park?
Yes, but only battery-powered radios or boom boxes are allowed.
• Volume must be kept low
• No amplified sound systems unless authorized by the City with proper permits
11. How do I cancel my reservation?
Park reservation adjustments can be made using the Cancellations, Adjustments & Refunds form.
12. It rained on the day of my event, can I request a refund?
Refunds are not given for rain unless:
• City staff confirms rainy conditions and that the space was unused
• Refund requests can be submitted using the Cancellations, Adjustments & Refunds form.
13. When will I receive my cleaning/damage deposit back?
All refunds for deposits or cancellations will be processed within 30 business days. Reservations paid by card will receive refunds back to the original card used for payment. Any reservations paid by cash, check, or whose card will not accept refunds, will receive refunds back in the form of check. Check refunds can take 4-6 weeks and will be mailed to the address of the permit holder.
