Captain Scott Adkins began his law enforcement career in 1997 as a Police Recruit with the Chula Vista Police Department. He worked various assignments including Patrol Officer, Street Team/Gang Suppression Officer, and SWAT Team Member.

In 2002, when he was promoted to Agent, Captain Adkins worked in Patrol, Property Crimes, Crimes of Violence, Jurisdictions Unified for Drug and Gang Enforcement (JUDGE) Task Force, and the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force. In 2015, he was promoted to Sergeant and worked as a Patrol Sergeant, Street Team/Gang Suppression Unit Sergeant, Department Rangemaster and SWAT Team Leader.

In 2020, he was promoted to Lieutenant and worked as a Patrol Watch Commander and SWAT Team Commander. Captain Adkins was promoted to Support Operations Captain in March 2025 and transitioned to the role of Patrol Operations Captain in November 2025.

Captain Adkins holds a Master of Science in Homeland Security and Emergency Management and a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Behavior from National University.
