Captain Henry Martin began his career in law enforcement in 1991 as a Police Officer with the Chula Vista Police Department. He worked various assignments, including Patrol Officer, Street Team/Gang Suppression Officer, School Resource Officer, and Mobile Field Force member.

In 2003, when he was promoted to Agent, Captain Martin worked in patrol, the School Resource Unit, and Professional Standards as a Background Investigator. In 2009, He was promoted to Sergeant and worked as a Patrol Sergeant, Traffic Unit Sergeant, and Patrol Operations/Field Training Program Sergeant. In 2015, He was promoted to Lieutenant and worked as a Patrol Watch Commander and the Community Policing Commander with the additional duty of Bilingual Public Information Officer. Collaterally, he was the Mobile Field Force Commander, Psychiatric Emergency Response Team Lieutenant, and the Police Cadet Advisor Lieutenant. In May 2024, Captain Martin was promoted to serve as the Investigations Division Captain, and as of November 2025, oversees the Support Operations Division. 
 
Before his full-time career with the Chula Vista Police Department, Captain Martin was a volunteer Chula Vista Police Explorer from 1985 to 1990 and a Chula Vista Police Reserve Officer from 1990 to 1991.
 
Captain Martin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from California Coast University and is a graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute Session #366. He is married and has seven children. His hobbies include traveling with his wife, family, and friends as well as working out and reading.
