General Information
The Chula Vista Police Department operates its own City Jail, currently the only city in the county to do so. This 50-bed Type I facility books local arrestees and provides them the opportunity to be released on bail. Arrestees unable to provide bail will be transported to the San Diego County detention facilities.

To make deposits to an inmate’s account:
- Visit the Front Lobby of the Chula Vista Police Department during normal business hours (Mon-Fri 8:00am to 5:00pm). We will accept Cash, Check, Money Order, or Major Debit/Credit Cards
- Go online to Access Corrections

In July of 2011, the Chula Vista City Jail entered into a contract to house female inmates for the United States Marshals Service (USMS). Housing USMS inmates provides needed bed space for the Federal Government, while providing revenue to the city to offset the cost of the facility.
