Willow StreetThe Willow Street Bridge Replacement Project will upgrade and improve a critical north-south connection between the City of Chula Vista and Bonita in the County of San Diego. The project will begin in the coming weeks and will take two years to complete. The existing bridge will be replaced with a larger, state-of-the art structure with two traffic lanes in each direction, new bike lanes, and upgraded sidewalks, railings and barriers. The $15.2 million project is funded by the Federal Highway Bridge Program and local Transportation Development Impact Fees.

The new 610-foot-long bridge will replace the existing structure that was constructed in 1940. The new bridge also accommodates the established trail undercrossing,
replaces the drainage culvert that feeds to the Sweetwater River, and improves connections to adjacent roadways.

Replacement of the bridge will occur in two stages to ensure continued traffic flow on Willow Street.
